The Corps of Engineers (COE) as  mitigation for the Navigation Component, has entered in to an agreement with the Red Wing Wildlife League (RWWL) to stabilize an area of the main river bank along RWWL property. The bank, in this area, has been degrading over the years due to extended high water periods and excessive boat wakes. The COE has designed a system to use a combination of trees and limestone rock to establish "groin/vanes" to dissipate the wave action and protect the bank.
